Minimal Access Hip Surgery

There has been widespread reporting of minimal access hip replacement surgery through “mini” incisions.  The benefits have been advertised as a lesser surgical procedure, reduced hospital stay and a faster recovery.  Some minimal access procedures limit the type of joint replacement that can be performed.

Mr Hoad-Reddick offers hip replacements on suitable patients through a short posterior approach, the size of the incision is adequate to safely perform the operation and to ensure that the components of the hip replacement are properly positioned.

Mr Hoad-Reddick pursues an active early post-operative mobilisation protocol, which may reduce complications such as DVT.  His average post-operative length of stay is between 3-5 days.
